I love this question! This is where it all stared for me. John Strelecky, author of The Why Café, The Big Five for Life and Life Safari, introduced the idea of creating my own definition of success. Yes, mine. Not one that I borrowed from you, or that someone else gave me; rather my own, personal definition of success.
This was the beginning of a journey that continues today – and into my future, as I hope it will for you. To experience success, you need to know what it is. To strive for success, you need to know what road to take. To realize success, you have to recognize it.
Here are some suggestions to consider when creating your definition for success:
- Personally
- Professionally
- Physically
- Financially
As it relates to:
- Family
- Loved ones
- Friends
- Colleagues
This list can be lengthy with each item having a particular definition determined by you. Alternatively, you may not even have a list. Perhaps your definition of success encompasses all aspects of your life in one sentence.
Please give yourself the gift of an answer. Knowing what success means to you will ensure you will recognize it.
One more comment – success does not have to be a destination; it can be a state of being.
