But what shaped the way I work today wasn’t one dramatic realization.
It was years of listening, asking questions, noticing what kept repeating, and learning to recognize the patterns underneath what women were experiencing in their businesses.
That experience changed the way I see business.
And it changes the questions I ask.

I understand that experience personally.
But what shaped the way I work today wasn’t one dramatic realization.
It was years of listening, asking questions, noticing what kept repeating, and learning to recognize the patterns underneath what women were experiencing in their businesses.
That experience changed the way I see business.
And it changes the questions I ask.
I knew how to build a successful business.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, I was an executive with a multinational advertising agency.
When I left the corporate world, conversations about business gradually became a business of their own.
And it worked.
By 2001, I had built a flourishing business that surpassed my executive income.
For several years, everything seemed to confirm that I knew how to build and run a successful business.
Then 2008 happened.
The financial crisis hit, and the business I had spent years building began to unravel.
Clients disappeared. Leads slowed. Income dropped.
So I did what many capable, determined business owners do when something isn’t working.
I tried to fix it.
I hired experts. Bought programs. Learned new strategies. Followed systems that had worked for other people.
Over the next two years, I invested more than $150,000 looking for answers.
But that wasn’t the moment I suddenly discovered a new way of working.
I rebuilt. I kept working.
And I kept paying attention.
Most importantly, I kept working with women entrepreneurs.
With every client, I learned more.
I saw businesses at different stages. Women facing different challenges. Strategies that worked beautifully for one person and poorly for another.
I saw businesses that looked successful from the outside but had become exhausting to run. And women who kept trying to solve the same problem in different ways.
Over time, I began noticing something.
Certain things repeated.
Not the exact circumstances. Not the exact problems.
But the underlying patterns.
The more women I worked with, the more clearly I could recognize when seemingly separate issues might be connected — and when the problem someone was trying to solve might not be the place we needed to begin.
