You’ve already taken the first step: gaining awareness. The next step is making a decision to take action. My clients will recognize this as one of my favorite phrases: It’s time to give my intention the attention required for results. In other words, it’s time to change your thinking, which leads to different behavior or action; and that, in turn, leads to your desired results.
Changing our thinking is a three-step process. First, we need to uncover the foundational beliefs that surround the thoughts – perhaps you have feelings of never measuring up; of not being as important as others; or of doubt, uncertainty, unworthiness. It’s time to open the door and bring in the fresh air, sunlight and cool ocean breeze.
The second step is to recognize the source of those thoughts. Those thoughts/people/beliefs may have been an integral part of your formative years. However, are they true today? Are they still in charge of you, responsible for you? One thing my life’s adventure has taught me is that what I thought to be true in my youth is frequently not true today. Nor am I the same person I was all those years ago. It may be your turn to let go of what or who is holding you back.
The third and final step is commitment – this is the action step. Here is where you commit to releasing the limiting beliefs, the outdated thinking, the negative thoughts that do not serve who you are today. Making the commitment is believing you are worthy of more, deserve more and have more to offer the world. This is when you start owning your potential and living in possibilities. The decisions you make today are the results you will experience tomorrow. If you want different results in your life, your relationships, your work, then claim the ownership of your future.
The joy of letting go of what is holding you back cannot be described. It’s personal and uniquely you. My wish for you is that you tap into your courage and give yourself the gift of discovering that wonderful feeling: the feeling of release, relief and realization that you can be free – beginning today, right now!
